COMPARE BEFORE YOU MOVE

401(k) rollover costs and gold IRA storage

Before leaving a 401(k), compare the complete ongoing arrangement—not just an advertised account-opening charge.

01

Compare the current plan with the proposed IRA

List the current plan’s fees and investment options alongside the proposed IRA’s administration and storage charges. Consider whether moving money changes withdrawal features or other benefits. A low setup charge alone does not settle the comparison.

02

Budget for the purchase and the holding period

Request an itemized product quote, the current custodian fee schedule, and the selected depository’s storage terms. Ask which fees are recurring and which apply only to particular transactions. Do not rely on an expired promotion or assume every account has the same price.

03

Choose storage before directing the order

If using Equity Trust and Delaware Depository, confirm that the intended storage option is available for the products you select. Record the facility, service type, billing method, and receipt process before the rollover proceeds are used for a purchase.

DELAWARE DEPOSITORY

Choose your storage before the rollover purchase.

Discuss the available Delaware Depository arrangement with Equity Trust. Confirm the facility, accepted products, and current terms for your account.

OPTION 01

Segregated storage

Metals are packaged, labeled, and held physically apart from other customers’ holdings. Ask how your particular items are identified and returned.

OPTION 02

Non-segregated storage

Holdings are allocated in the depository’s records and stored by product alongside other holdings. Confirm what equivalent products you receive on withdrawal.

Four details to confirm

  • Location. Specify the facility in the custody documents; do not infer it from the company name.
  • Reporting. IRA instructions and reporting are handled through the custodian.
  • Cost. Request the schedule that applies to your metals and selected service.
  • Insurance. Review coverage, exclusions, and claim procedures. Storage insurance does not cover investment losses.

Personal storage and IRA storage have different account arrangements. For IRA holdings, coordinate changes and distributions through the custodian.
